🐾 The 3 Most Surprising Questions Pet Owners Ask Vets (And What We Tell Them)

Every week, we chat with hundreds of pet parents at Dial A Vet — and let’s just say, the questions range from “aww” to “oh no.”

🐾 The 3 Most Surprising Questions Pet Owners Ask Vets (And What We Tell Them)

Here are three of the most unexpected (but totally valid) things pet owners ask us — and what our vets actually recommend.

1. Can dogs eat popcorn?

It’s movie night, your pup is watching you like a hawk... can you share?

✅ Short answer: Yes – in moderation.
Plain, air-popped popcorn is okay for most dogs, but avoid butter, salt, or caramel. Those can upset their tummy or cause pancreatitis over time.

2. Why does my dog stare at the wall like a ghost is there?

If your dog zones out at the wall or ceiling, it’s not always paranormal (phew).
It could be:

  • A neurological issue

  • Focal seizures

  • Vision or hearing problems

  • Or even boredom or anxiety

We actually get this a lot on our video consults.

🐶 If it’s happening often, it’s worth checking in with a vet.

3. Can cats eat blueberries?

🫐 Surprisingly — yes! In small amounts, blueberries can be a healthy, antioxidant-rich treat for cats.

But don’t overdo it. Cats are obligate carnivores, and too much fruit = tummy troubles.
